Message from Pope Francis for the Care of Creation

Fr Michael spoke to us to about Pope Francis’ message to feel challenged to assume, with prayer and commitment, our responsibility for the care of creation. Also for God to grant us the courage to do good without waiting for someone else to begin, or until it is too late. A summary of Pope Francis’ appeal can be found here and the encyclical Laudato Si’ here.

Diocesan Justice & Peace Commission newsletter

Welcome to our March newsletter.  In this month’s edition:-

We live in strange times! We have just had to cancel the day we have been planning with John Bell of the Iona community and, as the coronavirus situation develops, more and more events seem to be falling victim to this pandemic. However, life goes on and we have plenty to report on this month from a new cardinal who used to work in Bradford to St Mary & St Michael parish in Settle obtaining a Live Simply Award from CAFOD.
Perhaps the Commission should be looking more into doing online meetings and workshops/webinars? – Let us know if you think this would be a good idea.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE SACRAMENTS AND LITURGICAL CELEBRATIONS TO REDUCE THE RISKS OF COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS TRANSMISSION

The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has agreed that the cessation of public liturgies should begin from Friday evening 20th March 2020. Because of the situation the Church finds herself in, the obligation for the faithful to attend Holy Mass on a Sunday or Holy day of Obligation is removed, until further notice.

Full details can be found here for the celebration of the Sacraments and sacramentals of the Church at this time.
